The mechanical aspect of digital data

is a workgroup, that plays with the mechanical characteristics of modern data technologies.

Computer parts get a different meaning and the unwanted characteristics like sound, spinning movement and heating become the basics in the installations.

               
 
         
                Especially the mobile as a form can show a lot of these characteristics.Free hanging hard disks bring the whole thing in movement.  
                             
        120 hard disks were hanging at the Mobile No 1 at the MMK Frankfurt. The whole room was filled with their sound. A video camera made pictures from above and the pictures were shown on a monitor in the room. The movement of the camera was made with three cooling fans. An accustic sensory system connected the movement of the audience to the switching of the hard disks.              
             
                       
           
          In a cupboard integrated in the wall hard disks were switched on and off. The audience can only recognize the sound and a little blinking from inside.              
                               

Basically i do not trust in technical, there are to many things that have to be demystificated...
